Norwegian Tourist Asked to Leave India for Taking Part in Anti-CAA Protests

GUWAHATI: Soon after a German student studying at IIT Madras was asked to leave for taking part in an anti-CAA protest, a 74-year old Norwegian tourist in Kerala has been asked to leave India as she took part in an anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protest in Kochi.

As per reports, the tourist’s name is Janne-Mette Johansson.

The Foreigners Regional Registration Office said Johansson was being asked to go home because she violated visa norms.
“Janne-Mette Johannson was asked to leave India because she violated visa rules by participating in a protest. She agreed to the same in the questioning yesterday and was intimated in person today to leave the country. She will be leaving today,” said Kochi FRRO Anoop Krishnan to a leading national daily.

The 74-year-old, who is on a tourist visa, had reached Kochi on December 17. According to her Facebook post, Johansson participated in a march in Kochi by various organisations against the amended Citizenship Act on December 23.
