Northeast: NEUFC Enters Semi-Finals of ISL

GUWAHATI: Northeast United Football Club (FC) has qualified for the semi-finals of the Indian Super League (ISL). The representative team from the Northeast has earned a place in the ISL playoffs by defeating Kerela Blasters 2-0. 


The team went on a good run facilitated by Coach Khalid. The team went on an unbeaten run (W W W D D W D W W) with six wins and three draws.


This is the second time the NEUF has qualified for the semi-finals. This season, the club parted ways with Coach Gerard Nus after 11 matches in the ISL season. He was replaced by Khalid Jamil as interim head coach. Under Khalid, the club saw a nine-match unbeaten run, which also helped in reaching the playoffs for the second time in their history. On-road to play-off, they also made a ten-match unbeaten run, their longest ever.


NEUFC represents the 8 states of India known as North East India which comprise of Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, and Mizoram. The club is owned and operated by Bollywood actor John Abraham. The home ground of the team is in Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium Guwahati also known as Sarusajai Stadium.
