Nominations Of Four Candidates Rejected From First Phase Of Assam LS Elections

 

GUWAHATI: The nomination papers for four candidates in the first phase of elections have been canceled after scrutiny.

The candidates whose nominations have been cancelled are Dhiren Kachari (CPI) from Lakhimpur, Biren Bailung (Voters Party International) from Lakhimpur, Fosail Ahmed Majumdar (Republican Party Of India) from Kaziranga constituency and Mahendra Orang (Independent) from Sonitpur constituency.

The nomination papers filed for the elections of the five Lok Sabha constituencies to be held in the first phase of Lok Sabha Election were scrutinised on March 28.

After scrutiny, 11 candidates were found valid for Kaziranga, 8 for Sonitpur, 9 for Lakhimpur, 3 for Dibrugarh, and 5 for Jorhat constituencies. 

The deadline to withdraw candidature for the first phase is March 30.
