No Notice Issued Regarding Lockdown Relaxation in Guwahati Yet: DC Kamrup (M)

GUWAHATI: Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metropolitan district, Biswajit Pegu, has clarified that district authorities have not issued any notice of a relaxation of the lockdown in Guwahati yet.

Earlier today, various television media channels in the city were found reporting of a lockdown relaxation in the district on Monday and Tuesday, i.e. July 6 and 7 and the same was doing the rounds on various social media platforms.

Over 2,500 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from Kamrup district as of July 3. The 're-lock', according to state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, is estimated to bring down the curve by July 10.

From June 29, Kamrup district has been under complete lockdown which is to continue for a period of 14 days till July 12 in order to prevent the virus from spreading more within the community.
