In what could be termed as an unfortunate event, sources have alleged that the National Highway 37 in Jorabat area has turned into a garbage zone, and that the accumulated garbage dumps along the highway have degraded the beauty of highway.
The local residents have alleged that they are in state of dilemma on where to throw the garbage of their houses, as most of the concrete dustbins created by the administration have already accumulated garbage beyond its capacity and the administration is not taking any steps to clear those out.
A resident said, "People of the area have started dumping garbage anywhere according to their convenience now. These include outside their premises, houses, at new spots, and at secluded areas."
Sonapur Revenue Circle Officer, Dr Dhrubajyoti Hazarika, said that he has written a letter to the Panchayat about the condition of the roads and expect to come up with a solution soon.
