GUWAHATI:The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) inaugurated a Rail Coach Restaurant at Uzan Bazar riverfront on Monday, December 2. Situated opposite Jahaj Ghat (Alfresco Grand), Guwahati, this restaurant aims to offer a nostalgic railway dining experience, blending culinary delights with rail heritage.

The restaurant has been designed with a heritage-inspired aesthetic, incorporating local cultural elements. Visitors can enjoy food, snacks, and beverages in a setting reminiscent of classic railway dining, and is open to all.
This Guwahati outlet is the latest addition to NFR’s series of coach restaurants, bringing the total to 17 across various locations and major stations under its jurisdiction. It is an ongoing initiative of the NFR to creatively repurpose decommissioned train coaches, and turn them into functional spaces that generate sustainable revenue while creating employment opportunities for skilled and unskilled workers alike.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NFR, who was also joined by senior officials from NFR Headquarters and the Lumding Division.
