GUWAHATI: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has opted to convert two of its trains to contemporary Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) rakes to improve passenger safety and comfort.
The NFR has announced the conversion of its traditional Integral Coach Factory (ICF) type rakes of trains 12514 and 12513 Guwahati-Secunderabad-Guwahati weekly superfast express trains into a highly contemporary LHB rake.
The train will now run with 22 LHB coaches, comprising one air-conditioned 2-tier, five air-conditioned 3-tier, twelve sleeper class, one second class, one pantry car, and two generator cum power cars.
This change is part of the NF Railway's ongoing attempts to improve the passenger experience, and 31 trains have already been upgraded from normal ICF to LHB.
LHB coaches have various advantages over traditional rakes, including increased space and comfort, improved passenger amenities, and enhanced safety systems. They are outfitted with hydraulic shock absorbers and enhanced suspension systems to provide passengers with greater riding comfort.
The coaches also include modular interiors with integrated lighting and luggage racks, as well as larger windows. They have environmentally friendly bio-toilets and controlled discharge bathroom systems.
