GUWAHATI: Given the surge in the number of coronavirus cases in the city, Assam health minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a press conference, informed that a new testing kit will be used for the screening of possible COVID-19 cases in Guwahati.
“The kit named, Q COVID-19 Ag Test kit can detect cases in about 1 hour and even with 15 minutes for more symptomatic patients,” said Sarma.
The positive cases thus detected will be treated, as it will be a confirmed test. However, people with negative result will be tested a second time by ITPCR testing.

Further, a new website, covidassam.in, will soon be launched where test result of all patients will be available on giving their respective SRF number (to be given as OTP on registered mobile number upon testing).
“The website currently has the result of 3.42 lakh people out of the 4 lakh tests conducted till date,” said the health minister.
Also, Sarma announced that patients admitted in Covid Care Centres can get home cooked food packed in disposable packages from now on.
