GUWAHATI: Guwahati has become a chaotic scene with the vendors encroaching upon footpaths, leading to commuter disruption and impromptu halts for the on-the-go purchases.
In response to this, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has decided to establish 120 new street vending zones across the city.
This development comes after proposals were submitted by ward councillors and will be discussed further in a meeting scheduled for November 29 with the Zonal Vending Committee.
Speaking to GPlus, a senior official from GMC said "We will convene a meeting on November 29 with the Zonal Vending Committee to deliberate on the establishment of 60 vending zones in each ward. This initiative aims to create a total of 120 vending zones in Guwahati."
"The proposals for these vending zones have been taken from the ward councillors," the senior GMC official further added.
