New Palasbari- Sualkuchi Bridge On Brahmaputra To Be Named Loh Purush Bishnuram Medi Setu

 

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that the upcoming new bridge over the Brahmaputra, connecting Palasbari and Sualkuchi, will be named "Loh Purush Bishnuram Medhi Setu" in honour of the late Bishnuram Medhi, a former Chief Minister of Assam and Governor of Madras. He also mentioned that construction of the bridge has already started.

During the event held on Wednesday, August 14, Sarma highlighted Medhi's contributions, saying, "Bishnuram Medhi is the treasure of national life. There are also the efforts of that great man behind the construction of the Saraighat Bridge and the Guwahati refinery."

The Chief Minister further expressed his personal admiration for Medhi, stating, "I am fascinated by the life of Bishnuram Medhi. His life inspires me because I am also trying to work hard day and night to complete the half-complete struggle that Bishnuram left behind."

"If the politics of Medhi can inspire the new generation in Assam, then till the last moment of our lives, like burning candles, we will be able to spread light instead of darkness to the world" the Chief Minister added.

At the event in Hajo, Sarma also unvieled Bishnuram Medhi's statue.
