Netflix to launch cheaper mobile-only plan for India soon

GUWAHATI: Entertainment streaming service provider Netflix has confirmed that it will soon launch a low-priced mobile plan in India to offset lower growth worldwide.

Based on a report by the Economic Times, the new mobile-only plan will likely be launched in the third quarter in India.

The plan will most likely be priced lower than its existing subscriptions of Rs. 500, Rs. 650 and Rs. 800.

The entertainment company announced this after it reported lower-than-expected subscriber additions in the last quarter and also to battle cheaper streaming services such as Amazon’s Prime Video and Walt Disney Company India unit’s Hotstar.

It should be noted that India has an important place in Netflix’s global expansion plans as it is one of the highest growth markets for the company.
