Nehru park in Guwahati lies in a shambles

GUWAHATI: Nehru park, one of the major tourist attractions in the city, is currently in a dilapidated situation, with broken swings and torn slides.

Citizen journalist Shubham Saboo has captured the pathetic condition of the park, which is situated opposite to one of the premier institutes of Assam, Cotton College.

In one of the pictures taken by Shubham, a big hole is seen at one end of the slide which is supposed to be used by the children at the park, while another picture depicts the dysfunctional swings that have been tied up to their structure.

Another image shows the poor condition of the see-saw that wears the look of not being used for a long time.

Developed by Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Nehru park has a playground for children, jogging track, as well as 45 statues showcasing several dance forms of the state including Bihu, Deodhani, Ojapali, Bor Taal and Jhumur, among others.
