National Lawn Bowls Championships To Kick Off In Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The 8th Senior and 4th Under-25 National Lawn Bowls Championships are set to take place at the Lawn Bowls Green within the Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati from September 23 to 29.

The event is being organised by the Lawn Bowling Association Assam under the auspices of the Bowling Federation of India. The Senior Nationals segment of the event will also serve as the qualifiers for the 37th National Games in Goa, taking place in October-November 2023.

A total of 16 states, including the host state of Assam, will participate in this prestigious event. Approximately 275 players and team officials are expected to grace the Championships, all of whom will receive hotel accommodation for the duration of the tournament. Notably, the competition will feature some of the country's top Lawn Bowls players.

The Lawn Bowling Association Assam expressed optimism about defending their championship title, anticipating a strong performance and a rich medal haul.

The Championships have received substantial support from various entities, including the Directorate of Sports, Assam, SLAC for Students and Youth Welfare, Sports Authority of Assam, Round Table India, NRDS, Chirang Motors, Ladies Circle India, and Hotel GS Residency. Additionally, the office bearers of the Lawn Bowling Association Assam have made generous contributions to ensure the event's success.

The Championships will commence with an opening ceremony at 12 PM on September 23. The closing ceremony and medal presentation will take place at 4 PM on September 29.
