Narcotics Worth ₹15 Crore Seized In Assam’s Cachar

GUWAHATI: Assam Police foiled an interstate drug-peddling attempt on Saturday evening, December 28, by seizing narcotics worth ₹15 crore.

The operation took place at Ghoongur Bypass Road in Silchar, Cachar district, where a vehicle traveling from a neighboring state was intercepted. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered 50,000 YABA tablets concealed in five packets.

Two individuals were arrested on charges of drug peddling, and the vehicle was seized.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the operation on Sunday, December 29, via social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He wrote: "Narcotics worth ₹15 crore seized. Based on credible inputs, @cacharpolice conducted a special operation at Ghoongur Bypass and intercepted a vehicle coming from a neighboring state. Upon search, 50,000 YABA tablets concealed in five packets were recovered." 

He added, "Two have been apprehended, and the vehicle has been seized."
