Nalbari Becomes First District in Assam With Women in All Top Admin Posts

GUWAHATI: Nalbari district of Assam becomes the first district to be run largely by women. The highest administrative posts of this district are being held by women who made it to the top by sheer hard work and determination.

The Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Chief Executive Officer of the Zila Parishad and all top officials in nearly all top government posts in the district are all women.

Purabi Konwar is all set to be appointed as the first woman DC of Nalbari. Prior to this, she was the CEO of the Dhubri District Zila Parishad.

IPS officer Amanjeet Kaur, who was earlier the DCP (Traffic) in Guwahati is now the SP in Nalbari and the DSP there is Jupi Bordoloi.

Senior ACS officer Krishna Baruah, the present CEO of the Nalbari District Zila Parishad is also among the top female office holders.

Out of the seven revenue circles in the district, four are reportedly being headed by women officers and many officers heading Nalbari’s social welfare, circle office and judiciary department are also women.

The empowerment of women and the improvement of their political, social, economic status has always been an issue of concern in our Indian society but Nalbari district will now have people closely observing the abilities of these capable women.
