Nagaland’s First Medical College Inaugurated In Kohima

 

GUWAHATI: In a landmark moment for the state of Nagaland, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated Nagaland's first medical college, the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR) on October 14, in a ceremony held in the state's capital, Kohima. 

The event, attended by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, marked a significant milestone in the region's healthcare and educational landscape.

NIMSR Kohima, an academic institution dedicated to medical sciences and research, stands as a beacon of progress in Nagaland. This esteemed institution is affiliated with Nagaland University and holds the distinction of offering 100 MBBS seats. 

Of these, 85 seats are reserved for students hailing from Nagaland, underlining a commitment to nurturing local talent, while 15 seats are allocated to students from other states.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, addressing the gathered audience, offered words of encouragement and motivation to the students who will embark on their medical journey at NIMSR.
