GUWAHATI: Nagaland creates history by electing two women candidates for the first time - S Kruse and Hekani Jakhalu.
Salhoutuonuo Kruse and Hekani Jakhalu are both from NDPP.
For the first time in 60 years in Nagaland’s history, Hekani Jakhalu became the first woman elected in the Nagaland Assembly elections.
Hekani Jakhalu won from Dimapur-III, whereas Salhoutuonuo Kruse won from the Western Angami AC constituency. She defeated Azheto Zhimomi of LJP (Ram Vilas) by 1,536 votes to win the Dimapur-III constituency.
Salhoutuonuo Kruse beat independent candidate Keneizhakho Nakhro from the West Angami-8 constituency by 481 votes.
