MP Allowances, Pensions Slashed by 30% for a Year

GUWAHATI: The Union Cabinet has approved an ordinance slashing the pension and allowances of members of the Parliament by 30 percent for a year.

According to the ordinance, the reduction of allowances and pension will be effective from April 1, 2020.

Apart from the ordinance on MP salary, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu and all state governors have also voluntarily decided to take a pay cut as a social responsibility.

It is to be mentioned that the money will go to Consolidated Fund of India.
