Mount Everest Now Stands Taller Than Before

The height of the world's tallest peak, Mount Everest, has increased further.

So far, Kathmandu and Beijing had differed over the peak's exact height. Now, they have both agreed on the height after each sent an expedition of surveyors to the summit. The official height now is 8,848.86 metres (29,031.69 feet), a bit more than what they had previously calculated.


Nepal's Foreign Minister has announced that 8,848.86 metres is the newly-measured height of Mount Everest. 

Nepal's earlier estimate was 8848 metres whereas China determined it to be 8844.43 metres based on a research done in 2005.
