GUWAHATI: AASU Advisor, Samujjal Bhattacharya after the cabinet's approval of the Citizenship Amendment Bill has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the BJP party as a whole are traitors, and they have proved that today.
"This is a party which only wants to safeguard the identity of Bangladeshis and their vote banks and no way will stand for the Assamese community," said Bhattacharya.
"We were expecting that the government will ask the illegal immigrants to leave the state, but on the other hand they have now asked these people to stay here with all the bags and baggage," he said.

The Joint Parliamentary Committee was also a pre-planned story to portray a different image to the people of Assam, which is why the committee was never sent to any other parts of Assam other than Guwahati and Silchar.
This is a time for all Assamese people to stand unitedly against the bill, said the AASU member.
ASSU along with 30 other organisations will now hold statewide protests to preserve our identity.
