GUWAHATI: A young man in Guwahati was brutally assaulted by an angry mob on Monday, November 18, for allegedly attempting to steal milk from a store.

The incident had taken place in Kahilipara’s Jatia, where the youth was allegedly caught in the middle of the theft. The mob, resorting to moral policing, assaulted the boy, inflicting several injuries upon him.
One of the individuals also reportedly attacked the boy with keys, thereby injuring his eyes, and leaving several marks across his face. Upon further questioning, he was alleged to have been involved in the theft with another suspect, who fled at the time of the scene.
As the incident escalated tensions in the area, the Bhagaduttapur Police was swift to intervene, rescuing the boy and ensuring that he received immediate medical attention. Speaking to GPlus, a police official from the station said, “Two people have been taken into police custody, and the attacked individual has been admitted to GMCH.”
Further investigation is going on at the moment to apprehend the culprits responsible for the attack.
