GUWAHATI: Various truck owners and drivers organisations from Mizoram began an indefinite strike protesting against the substandard condition of National Highway 306 on Thursday, October 17.

The national highway, which was earlier known as NH-54, connects Kawnpui in Mizoram to Silchar in Assam.

Based on reports, the strike began at 7 a.m. on Thursday morning wherein members of Mizoram Truck Owners’ Association (MTOA) and Mizoram Truck Drivers’ Association (MTDA) blocked the highway.

They stated that the terrible condition of the highway has led to numerous accidents and puts the lives of truck drivers in danger who take that route.

The protesting organisations have demanded action from the government and noted that the strike will continue until the road is repaired.
