GUWAHATI: A minor boy was seriously injured after being attacked by a leopard in the Maligaon locality of Guwahati on Wednesday, March 26.

The victim, identified as Faruk Ali, was on his way home along with his sister when the leopard suddenly attacked him. The big cat reportedly targeted the boy’s head and neck and attempted to drag him towards the nearby hilltop. However, the leopard fled after Faruk's sister shouted, attracting the attention of locals.
The injured boy was immediately rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.
Speaking to GPlus, a police officer from Maligaon Outpost said, "The minor boy along with his sister was on their way home when the leopard attacked him. The big cat attacked him and tried to pull him towards the hilltop. He is admitted in GMCH and is recovering."
Following the incident, forest officials launched a search operation in the area but were unable to trace the animal. “A team went to the designated area but couldn’t find any evidence or locate any leopard in the area,” a forest official told GPlus.
