MHA Allows Sale of Liquor, Paan, Tobacco

GUWAHATI: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has allowed the sale of liquor, paan and tobacco in 'Green Zones' by ensuring minimum six-feet social distancing, quoted ANI on Twitter.

Further, not more than 5 persons will be allowed to gather at one time at a shop.

It is to be mentioned that as per MHA, consumption of liquor, paan, gutka, tobacco etc will not be allowed in public places during lockdown period.

However till now, Assam State government is yet to make any announcement on the opening of wine shops in the state of Assam.

Meanwhile, Government of India (GOI), in its latest announcement, has designated that  among 29 other districts of Assam, Kamrup (M) has been marked as 'Green Zone'.

Earlier today, the Centre extended the lock-down to two more weeks with effect from May 4, 2020 and it will be in place till May 17.
