The incident occurred in the East Khasi Hills district, as the two suspects were intending to smuggle the consignment into Bangladesh.

Acting on intelligence reports, the 4th Battalion of the Meghalaya BSF acted quickly to intercept both assigned vehicles on the Dawki-Lynkhat road, an Alto car and a Maruti van each.

The vehicles were carrying 40 boxes of apples. Upon further questioning, the drivers were unable to provide valid documents for the consignment, thereby heightening suspensions of illegal activity.

The individuals, along with the vehicles and consignment, have been handed over to Customs officials in Pynursla for further investigation.
