The attack occurred at around 5:30 AM near Borobekra Police Station, about 30 km from Jiribam. According to official reports, the militants were equipped with sophisticated weapons and charged bombs as they opened fire on the village.

In response, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the local police retaliated, leading to a heavy exchange of gunfire. Additional forces were further rushed into the area to reinforce the ongoing operation.

As of now, no casualties have been reported, but the situation remains tense. Elderly residents, women, and children were reportedly moved to safe locations during the gunfight. Since Borobekra is surrounded by dense forests and mountainous terrain, the situation has been particularly challenging for the assigned security personnel.

This latest incident of violence comes to light days after the Meitei, Kuki, and Naga MLAs held recent peaceful talks in New Delhi to negotiate peace talks on Manipur’s year-long communal conflict.
