GUWAHATI: Magnificent Mary Kom, world-famous boxer and Jadav Payeng, who is titled as 'Forest Man of India' have been awarded an honorary P.hD (Doctor of Philosophy) degree by Kaziranga University on January 13.
Ace Indian shooter, Abhinav Bindra was also honoured with a P.hD but was absent at the ceremony.

The beloved boxer tweeted, “I’m blessed, humbled and honoured to have a chance to receive the Degree of Doctor of Physiology. Thank you Kaziranga University, Assam.”
Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal congratulated the entire graduating batch of students at the fifth convocation of Kaziranga University in his tweet. He also presented the honorary doctorate degree to Mary Kom by calling her “wonder woman.”
