Contrary to reports from various media outlets that the individual, described as a "Jihadi," had insulted India and the Indian Army through Facebook posts while studying at IIT Guwahati, the university has denied the news.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also issued a statement on X on Saturday, May 3, confirming that no such student is registered at the institution. “We have conducted a thorough inquiry and can categorically confirm that no such student from Bangladesh is enrolled at IIT Guwahati. IIT Guwahati is a hugely responsible and internationally respected institution,” he stated.

The chief minister further urged the public not to fall for unverified claims and misinformation. “We urge all to rely on verified facts rather than assumptions. Let me state unequivocally: Assam is not—and shall never be—a safe haven for anti-India activities,” he added.

The viral post had tagged both the chief minister and Assam Police, demanding immediate action against the alleged individual. It accused the person of misusing India’s hospitality and spreading anti-national sentiments online.
