GUWAHATI: Multiple locations in Guwahati have been declared as Vending Zones under the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC).

This has been done in the exercise of powers conferred under Section 18(1) of the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihoods and Regulations of Street Vending) Act, 2014.

Six overall zones have been designated in the city as Central Zone consisting of 11 locations, Dispur Zone consisting of 31 locations, East Zone having 7 locations, Lokhra Zone having 12 locations, South Zone consisting of 12 locations, and West Zone having 8 locations.
Some of the major locations are Near Jute Mill, AK Azad Road, GMC Market Beltola, Powerhouse to Dakhin Gaon Southside, BSNL Office to Meghdoot Bhawan, Uzan Bazar Market, Market Under Chandmari Flyover, and Lachit Ghat Fancy Bazar, etc.
