GUWAHATI: The Government of Manipur has announced that all educational institutions across the state will remain closed on September 13 and 14, 2024.

In separate orders issued today, the Directorate of Education-Schools and the Higher & Technical Education Department authorised the closure of all government, government-aided, private, and central schools, as well as government and private colleges. The move is aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff amidst the ongoing tensions.
The decision to extend the closures follows previous orders issued by the government in response to the deteriorating security situation in Manipur. The State has been grappling with violent clashes between different ethnic groups, particularly the Meiteis and Kukis, since May 2023.
This recent surge in violence has led to widespread displacement, loss of lives, and destruction of property. While the government has made efforts to restore peace and order, the situation remains volatile for the moment.
