GUWAHATI: The Manipur government has decided to rename a stretch of road in Imphal after the pugilist to honour the world boxing champion MC Mary Kom.
The road towards National Games village in Imphal popularly known as Imphal West D C Road will be soon be renamed as MC Mary Kom Road.
Manipur CM N Biren Singh announced this while conferring ‘Meethoi Leima’ title at a state level felicitation function in Imphal on Tuesday.

The Indian woman boxer created history on November 24 by winning her sixth world championship gold at the 10th World Women’s Boxing Championships.
A cheque of Rs 10 lakh was also handed over to the world champion during the occasion.
