Guwahati police claim both were in an inebriated state when the fight took place
GUWAHATI: A man lost his life following a fight with his nephew in Guwahati’s Noonmati area on Thursday, January 23. The victim has been identified as Uday Rai Chowdhury.

The incident unfolded when Chowdhury and his nephew, Raja Basumatary, were allegedly drinking together at their residence. Both were reportedly intoxicated. A casual conversation quickly escalated into a heated argument. The situation deteriorated further, resulting in a violent confrontation between the two.
Chowdhury sustained severe injuries during the fight and was urgently taken to a nearby hospital by his family. Despite medical efforts, he was declared dead upon arrival.
Police arrived at the scene and Basumatary was apprehended and is currently in custody.
Speaking to GPlus, an official from Noonmati police station said, "A man was killed by his nephew during a fight. Both individuals were intoxicated at the time. The nephew has been arrested and is currently in custody. Further investigation is underway."
