Man from Tinsukia cycles to get justice for Nilotpal-Abhijit

GUWAHATI: Bhupen Likson, a solo cyclist from upper Assam, has cycled all the way from Jagun,Tinsukia to Guwahati to present a memorandum to chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal for Karbi Anglong lynching victims Nilotpal and Abhijit. The cyclist wants speedy trial and timely justice for Nilotpal and Abhijit.

Likson is known for creating awareness about social issues through his cycling protest or movement. Likson has met the parents of Nilotpal and Abhijit. His memorandum also prays for rejection of Citizenship Amendment Bill (2016), securing Assam’s land and sealing of international boundary.

The 52-year-old has been trying to create opinion and bring about changes in the society by cycling to different places of conflict. He has earlier cycled to create awareness about Rhino poaching and keeping Assam’s borders safe.

A resident of Kharangkong village under Lekhapini Police station of Tinsukia district Likson’s name is already in the India Books of Records for cycling 40 kms (Jagun to Patwai) without having touched the handles in 2013.
