Man Arrested With Elephant Tusks In Assam’s Udalguri

 

The Assam Forest Department recently arrested a man in possession of two elephant tusks.

Following the operation which took place on Saturday, February 22, the accused, identified as Sadhin Narzary (54), son of Lt. Sadar Narzary, was arrested from his residence in No. 2 Bongrun village under Harisinga police station in Udalguri district.

Acting on specific intelligence, forest officials raided his house and seized two elephant tusks weighing 13 kg.

Additionally, the team confiscated a four wheeler and a mobile phone. The vehicle allegedly belonged to Narzary’s accomplice, who remains at large. A search operation is underway to trace the absconding suspect.

The arrested individual was produced before the court by the Forest Department on the same day, while authorities are continuing their efforts to apprehend the other fugitive linked to the illegal wildlife trade.
