GUWAHATI: The Assam cabinet has approved ₹55.45 crore for urban infrastructure development in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, focusing on upgrading civic amenities within these areas and promoting balanced urban growth.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed this on his X handle following the state cabinet meeting held on Sunday, February 23.
The funds will be utilised for various infrastructure projects to improve urban planning, transportation, and public services in smaller cities, ensuring equitable development across the state.
In the same meeting, the cabinet also gave the green light for the construction of a new flyover in Dibrugarh to ease traffic congestion.
