GUWAHATI: A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0 struck the North East region of India including Assam’s capital city of Guwahati on March 12 at 14:27:53 IST. The temblor, originating at a shallow depth of 5 kilometres in the West Garo Hills region of Meghalaya, was felt across the area, prompting brief concerns among residents.

According to seismic data, the earthquake's epicentre was located at coordinates 25.70 N latitude and 90.26 E longitude, placing it in the vicinity of West Garo Hills. While the tremor may have caused minor shaking and rattling of buildings, there have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
