Lockdown 4.0: Assam Witnesses Around 60,000 Entries, 271 Test Positive Till Now

GUWAHATI: Assam Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a press meet, said that so far around 60,000 people have entered Assam. 

Out of these, a total 44,000 people have entered by road and 16,484 by train.

271 people from amongst them have tested positive for COVID-19.

People who travelled from Maharashtra have the most positive cases - 108 in total, followed by Delhi and Chennai.

Till date 59,553 tests have been conducted. 

"Assam now has the capability to test 2,500 samples per day," said Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Further breaking down the tally the minister said that the arrivals have been: by Vehicle - 39,179 (in which rest of NE is not included), roughly 44,000 by vehicle if whole NE is included, by Train - 16,484.

The minister also added that in Assam's "Community Surveillance Programme" 4,000 samples were collected in Rural Assam and none was found COVID-19 positive. However, 23,000 were found with fever and 6 with malaria. All malaria patients are currently undergoing treatment.
