GUWAHATI: The residents of Lanka town in Hojai, Assam, apprehended an individual believed to be involved in drug peddling in the early hours of Tuesday.
The person in question, identified to be one Sabbir Ahmed, was caught along with another individual who was also suspected of being a drug peddler. However, the second suspect managed to escape, as per reports.
According to official information, the apprehension took place near Lanka Junior Secondary School and Ex-Servicemen School, prompted by suspicions raised by the locals.
According to reports, the locals discovered a container allegedly containing narcotics, suspected to be heroin, in Ahmed's possession.
Following this, the suspect was handed over to the Lanka Police.
The police have launched an investigation in response to the incident.
Both the container and its contents have been forwarded for testing, as per official information
