GUWAHATI: The government of Assam has decided to allow opening of liquor shops effective May 2 in the 'Green Zones'.
These liquor shops will be allowed to keep open from 11 AM to 5 PM, on the permitted days.

A notification from the excise department states that all liquor is to be sold at the old prices and new prices will be notified later.
The notification further reads, "All IMFL "Off" and country spirits "Off" shops located in districts under Green Zone are allowed to open with immediate effect."
Meanwhile, all wine shops will comply social distancing norms and other guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
