GUWAHATI: A leopard was spotted inside an under-construction building in Nagaon’s Amolapatty area on Wednesday, January 1, sparking widespread panic among local residents.

The leopard was first noticed by a mason working on the first floor of the building. Startled by the discovery, the mason quickly clicked a photograph of the big cat and alerted the building’s owner. Subsequently, forest officials were informed and began efforts to locate and tranquilise the animal to ensure the safety of the community.
Speaking to GPlus, an official from the Nagaon Police Station stated, "A leopard was spotted in the Amolapatty area on Wednesday. Forest officials are working to locate the animal. Public entry to the area is restricted, and residents are advised to remain indoors and avoid stepping out unless absolutely necessary."
Efforts are ongoing to safely capture and relocate the leopard to prevent any potential mishaps.
