GUWAHATI: The persistent issue of improper parking on Guwahati's roads continues to create significant challenges, with authorities seemingly failing to address the problem effectively. A recent incident near the Basistha area in the city, highlights the severity of the issue, as several vehicles are always spotted parked blatantly in the middle of the street, causing unnecessary traffic disruptions throughout the day. This issue is also prevalent among other areas of Guwahati such as City Center, RG Baruah road, Hatigaon and many others.

Despite ongoing concerns about roadside parking, some individuals treat public roads as their private property. Such actions not only create major inconvenience for the commuters but also contribute to avoidable traffic chaos in the city. This can also be seen throughout the city at various hotspots.
Talking to GPlus, Traffic IC of Basistha said, “We try to impose fines on such behaviour whenever we receive reports of such violations throughout the city. Many interceptor units and personnel are also posted at various locations to deter and monitor such issues.”
Residents and commuters are calling for stricter enforcement of parking regulations to deter such reckless behavior and restore order to the streets. Effective measures are urgently needed to address this recurring problem and ensure smoother traffic flow in Guwahati.
