Land To Be Settled In Favour Of Indigenous Families Across 10 Districts

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet has announced key decisions regarding land settlement in 10 districts of the state. The initiative, known as Mission Basundhara 2.0, is designed to settle land in favour of landless indigenous families residing in Sonitpur, Tinsukia, Dhemaji, Nagaon, Biswanath, Kamrup (M), Kamrup, Bongaigaon, Goalpara, and Dhubri districts.

The Cabinet has given its approval for the settlement of land for a total of 418 landless indigenous families across both urban and rural areas in these 10 districts. Out of the total approved offers, 84% have been allocated to applicants from the SC/ST/OBC/MOBC category.

The category-wise breakdown of the offers of settlement is as follows:

General (Gen): 37,603 (16%)
Scheduled Tribe (ST): 86,318 (38%)
Scheduled Caste (SC): 11,098 (5%)
Other Backward Classes (OBC): 84,369 (37%)
More Other Backward Classes (MOBC): 10,271 (4%)

In total, 2,29,659 offers of settlement have been approved under Mission Basundhara 2.0.
