GUWAHATI: Lahowal MLA, Rituparna Baruah has openly revolted against BJP’s decision of thrusting the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
The MLA is considered to be close to Assam’s Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal and his revolt is being considered crucial in state politics. Barua was also a former All Assam Student Union (AASU) leader.

This news comes after Sootea MLA, Padma Hazarika also openly criticised against the thrusting of CAB against her party's decision. Assam Assembly Speaker, Hitendra Nath Goswami has also already issued a statement saying that the decision to thrust CAB was hasty.
After Magh Bihu, more BJP MLAs are expected to protest against CAB as they do not support the ruling party’s decision.
