Kaziranga Reopens For Tourists

GUWAHATI: The Kaziranga National Park reopened for tourists on Saturday, October 12. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal officially reopened the park for the year 2019-2020.

Authorities have informed that the Jeep Safari in Kohora and Bagori is also open for tourists but the elephant safari will be closed until further notice. The authorities however also added that the tourists will be allowed to visit till a restricted zone as the pathways are not in good condition due to bad weather.

Famous for its one-horned rhinos, Kaziranga is a UNESCO world heritage site. The park has a large breeding population of elephants, tigers, wild water buffaloes and swamp deers.
Earlier in the year, More than 90 percent of the park’s area was submerged under water and over 100 animals lost their lives.
