GUWAHATI: The Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration will be forming a task force to check the mushrooming of drinking water bottling plants in the district.
The task force will comprise of officials of the Food Safety Department, Circle officers, and police officials. Stringent action will be taken against unauthorised water packaging plants selling unhealthy water packed in unhygienic conditions.
Cases of such fake packaged water have been reported in Guwahati earlier. The modus operandi of such unauthorised packaging plants include filling the bottles with regular water and adding fake seals of reputed mineral water brands. Many local brands have also mushroomed in the city.
Further, Kamrup(M) Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha held a meeting with the District Disaster Management Authority on Tuesday, February 15, to discuss mitigation measures for the upcoming monsoon season and flood in the district.
