GUWAHATI: District Transport Officer (Licensing), Arun Bora, Head Assistant Simanta Neog, Junior Assistant Arup Kumar  Barman and Cashier Sidhheshwar Ranghang of Kamrup (M) District Transport Office (DTO) have been suspended for irregularities in motor vehicle tax.

Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary ordered the suspension on 3rd August to be implemented with immediate effect.

"An inquiry was immediately conducted to look into the matter. It was discovered that tax evasion was being allowed by the DTO Kamrup Metro, wherein a vehicle owner could pay the current year tax by skipping the arrear. This was against the rules," stated a press release.
