GUWAHATI: Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner, Biswajit Pegu, held a meeting with the Kamrup Chamber of Commerce (KCC), Guwahati on July 19 with regard to the opening of shops and  business establishments in Guwahati.

Mahavir Jain, President, Kamrup Chamber of Commerce, Guwahati requested to allow opening of shops and godowns on both sides of the street on the plea that many traders have their shops on one side and the godown on the opposite side of the street. The request was not considered by the house as there was no provision for the same in the government order.

Further the DC, under the order dated July 18 citing point no XXVI, requested all traders to get themselves tested alongwith their employees, delivery persons etc for COVID-19.

Regarding opening of shops and business establishments, it was decided by draw of lots that in the next week on Monday, right hand side of any street and on Tuesday, left hand side and so on of the street, the shops and business establishments will be opened.

For this, Paltan Bazar will be the nodal point from where right and left sides will be finalised.
