Assam: 62 Candidates Cleared For Second Phase Of Lok Sabha Polls

 

GUWAHATI: On April 5, the scrutiny of nomination papers for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Assam got over, focusing on candidates vying for seats in the second phase of polling. Electoral officials meticulously reviewed the submitted documents, ensuring compliance with election regulations.

During the scrutiny process, the nominations of two candidates from the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency and one candidate from the Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency were invalidated due to discrepancies in their paperwork. Following the rigorous examination, the final tally revealed that a total of 62 candidates were deemed eligible to contest in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

With the conclusion of the nomination scrutiny, attention now turns to the next phase of the electoral process; the withdrawal of candidatures. Candidates have until April 8 to formally withdraw their nominations.
