GUWAHATI: The iconic Kamakhya Temple will remain partially closed on Thursday, December 26 due to solar eclipse.

According to the authorities of  ‘Kamakhya Devalaya Porisalona Samiti’, the temple door will remain closed till 12.30 p.m., although the slated time of the eclipse is from 8:08 a.m. till 11:16 a.m.  Usually the gate of the temple opens at 8 am.

This year’s solar eclipse is  the third and final annual solar eclipse of the year and would be witnessed in the Marina Islands, Oman, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and India.

It is also a rare ‘Annular Solar Eclipse’ as the moon will block most of the sun’s light and cause the sun to look like a ring (annulus), hence the name.
