GUWAHATI: Remarkable Assamese cultural icon, Jyoti Prasad Agarwala’s tribute on Shilpi Divas by the Assam Government went horribly wrong as an advertisement in many of Assam’s newspaper was found to be full of errors. The advertisement was promoted by Janasanyog. The words from an Assamese poem composed by Jyoti Prasad were wrongly quoted in the advertisement.

There were mainly two errors in the three-stanza poem, the second line of the stanza was misplaced by the word ei instead of moi and the last word of the third line was replaced by “anirmesh” which does not exist in Assamese dictionary.

To add to that, a portrait of Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala was seen hanging behind a curtain on his death anniversary at the BJP headquarters office in Hengrabari.

The BJP government was slammed for “disrespecting” the legend.
